Man Shot In Head; Gangs Suspected

Police are investigating what they believe might be a gang-related shooting that left a Spokane man hospitalized Wednesday, Spokane police spokesman Dick Cottam said.

The 24-year-old victim was shot in the head in the early-morning incident. Police have not released his name, but Cottam said he was being treated at an area hospital Thursday afternoon.

The man, who was conscious when police arrived just after midnight on Wednesday, told officers that two men fired at him as he stood on a balcony in the 300 block of East Weile.
