Applications Sought For Upcoming Open Seat On City Council

The city of Spokane is accepting applications for the upcoming City Council vacancy.

The vacancy was created by the switch to the strong mayor form of government, which means the mayor will no longer sit on the City Council.

The application period will last through December. The council is expected to interview candidates in the first week of January, and if a majority can reach a consensus, select the replacement sometime thereafter.

Applications can be obtained on the fifth floor of City Hall, by calling 625-6255, or on the city’s Web site, www.spokanecity.org. Applicants are asked to include a resume. They must be residents of the city of Spokane.
