Pageant Will Be One-Night Effort

Hamblen Park Presbyterian Church is going about its Christmas pageant a bit differently this year. The pageant will be created, rehearsed and performed all in one night.

The fun begins Sunday with a short outdoor Christmas tree lighting ceremony at 5 p.m. The crowd will move inside for a free soup supper at 5:30 p.m.

At 6:30 p.m. the roles for the pageant will be assigned, and the children will rehearse their parts. The roles available for this telling of the Christmas story include angels, sheep, wise men, readers, set designers and singers.

The performance begins at 7 p.m. and promises to be fun for all.

The public is invited to participate in the evening.

The church is located at 4102 S. Crestline.

Ecumenical service Sunday

St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church will host an Advent Taize worship service at 7 p.m. Sunday. The ecumenical style of worship includes candlelight, simple sung chants, Scripture readings, prayers and silence.

All are welcome.

The church is located at 5720 S. Perry.
