Pathology Associates Moving

Pathology Associates Medical Laboratories Inc. is moving from the Freeway Center Building, 11604 E. Indiana, to the former Southcrest Subacute & Specialty Care Center at 110 W. Cliff Drive.

The four-story, 68,000-square-foot building is across the street from Sacred Heart Medical Center. The move is expected to happen in September of next year, said Thomas Tiffany, Pathology Associates general manager.

Pathology Associates does clinical laboratory testing of bodily fluids for physicians and hospitals and employs about 300 people.

The laboratory outgrew the 26,000 square feet it occupies at the Freeway Center building, Tiffany said.

“We’re totally out of space in this current facility,” he said.

Convenience was another reason Pathology Associates decided to move. Being located at Sacred Heart makes it easier to transport fluids, Tiffany said.

The move also joins the laboratory with its owner, Sacred Heart. Pathology Associates is owned by Bourget Health Service Inc., a for-profit subsidiary of Sacred Heart.

The Freeway Center’s other tenant, Pathology Association Inc., P.S., leases a 15,000-square-foot space. Grant Person of Tomlinson and Black would like to fill the empty space with a tenant similar to Pathology Associates.

Person would like to have something lined up by spring so it could move in by the time Pathology Associates leaves in September.

Meridian Construction Management LLC of Spokane plans to start construction of a Best Buy near the Spokane Valley Mall this month.

The electronic store will be located at 15223 E. Indiana and will employ between 100 and 124 people. Best Buy has 350 stores across the nation.

Mark D’Agostino, owner of Meridian, said the 45,400-square-May and will cost $2.1 million to build.
