Two Scope Offices Host Open Houses

In keeping with the holiday spirit, two Valley SCOPE groups hope to bring their neighborhoods together for some fun.

University and Edgecliff SCOPE groups - which stands for Sheriff’s Community Oriented Policing Effort - will host Christmas open houses during the upcoming weeks.

Edgecliff SCOPE has its celebration scheduled from 3-8 p.m. Friday. SCOPE members plan to serve homemade soups and corn bread to Edgecliff residents and Sheriff’s office personnel, said SCOPE Edgecliff president Jackie Ash.

Edgecliff SCOPE is located at 522 S. Thierman.

University SCOPE will break out Christmas cookies and raffle prizes at their Christmas open house on Dec. 15. It’s scheduled to run from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The group plans to send invitations home with grade-school-aged children in the University SCOPE neighborhood.

“Ours is going to be open to everybody,” said SCOPE University president Ann Richey.

Richey also expects some special guests to stop by the party including Spokane County commissioners and other community leaders.

Richey said she still has to find cookies to feed all the expected guests. Usually, the group asks area businesses to help with the food, something Richey said she plans to do again this year.

University SCOPE is located just off University Road at 10621 E. 15th Several other SCOPE groups, including West, Central and East Valley, also have planned private Christmas parties for their SCOPE members and law enforcement.
