Valley Center Needs Blankets, Gifts

As winter cold descends, the Valley Community Center is putting out a plea for blankets, new toys and other gifts for Christmas.

“A lot of my families are out of blankets,” said Mollie Dalpae, Valley Center manager. “With utility bills being so high, our families are keeping their heat down to 62 or 64 degrees.”

Without sufficient blankets, that means a chilly night’s sleep.

Barrels for donations of blankets, gifts or cash are out at the following locations: any Valley fire station, First Bank at 22408 E. Appleway, Farmer’s & Merchants Bank at either 10808 E. Sprague or 25 N. Mullan Rd., and Payless Shoes at McDonald and Sprague.

Gifts will be distributed at the Valley Foundation Bingo Hall on North Pines on Dec. 20. More than 600 families will receive gifts for Christmas through these donations.
