High-Techs Boost Idaho Exports
Idaho exports jumped 43 percent to $1.5 billion during the first six months of 2000.
The high-tech sector led the way. Semi-conductors, computers, printers and electronic components accounted for $1.1 billion in exports during the first six months.
Other top export industries were processed foods, cattle, fertilizers and forest products, which also showed significant gains over last year.
Asian markets continued to rebound for a second year, following the financial slowdown from 1997-98. Idaho’s largest trading partners include the United Kingdom, Singapore, Canada, China and Hong Kong, Japan and Korea.
