Wind, Snow Cause Problems
Winds gusting to 90 mph on the Washington coast and snow and rain across the state caused scattered power outages and traffic problems Thursday.
At Ocean Shores, winds gusting at 85-90 mph toppled trees, ripped roofs off houses and rolled a 30-foot trailer, police said. No injuries were reported.
More than 100 Grays Harbor Public Utility District customers lost power near Copalis Crossing, Iron Springs and Johns River, said Ron Pieffer, PUD operations manager.
Fallen trees temporarily blocked U.S. 101 near Raymond. Trees also fell on Washington 109 north and south of Copalis Beach on the coast.
Puget Sound Energy reported 1,300 customers without power Thursday night in scattered areas of southern King and Thurston counties.
