There’S Fun For All At Christmas Programs

With Christmas just around the corner, children at many Valley churches are unveiling their Christmas pageants and programs this week, offering a taste of the Christmas season that the whole family can enjoy.

Here’s a sampling of what’s happening:

The children of the Veradale United Church of Christ will present their Christmas pageant, titled “Thanks for Jesus,” during the 10:30 a.m. worship service Sunday.

The church, located at 611 N. Progress Road, will also host a Longest Night worship service Thursday at 7:30 p.m. The service is designed for people who are grieving the loss of a loved one during the holiday season. “A Radio Show Christmas” will be presented during the 10:45 a.m. worship service Sunday at Zion Lutheran Church, 8304 E. Buckeye. The Christmas program will include children in preschool through the 12th grade.

Zion will also host a candlelight Advent prayer service Sunday at 7 p.m. The special service will feature songs, prayer and quiet time.

The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection will host an outdoor Christmas program called “Carriers of Light” at 4 p.m. Sunday. (Dress warmly!) Those attending are asked to bring a lawn chair, a flashlight and a can of food for the Valley Food Bank.

After the performance, audience members can head inside and warm up during a potluck dinner. Santa is expected to make an appearance. The church is at 15319 E. Eighth.

The Christmas musical `Twas the Night Before” will be performed by the Sunday school students at Christ Lutheran Church, 13009 E. Broadway. The program will be presented during the church’s 10:30 a.m. worship service Sunday.

The children and youth of Millwood Presbyterian Church will present “Unto Us a Child is Born” during the 11 a.m. worship service Sunday. The church is at 3223 N. Marguerite Road.

The musical “A Timeless Gift” will be performed at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Spokane Valley United Methodist Church, 10422 E. Main. Refreshments will be served following the performance and Santa is expected to drop in for a visit.

The children’s Christmas program titled “Little Drummer Boy” will be presented during the 9:30 and 11 a.m. worship services Sunday at Spokane Valley Assembly of God Church, 15618 E. Broadway.

The Spokane Valley Church of the Nazarene will host a special “Sounds of Christmas” worship service Sunday at 6 p.m. The children of the church will perform a short musical and the youth will perform a musical number. The church’s singing groups will also perform.

The Sunday school students at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church will present their Christmas program during a special combined worship service at 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

The church is at 810 S. Sullivan Road.

“Archangel Gabriel’s Awesome Adventure” will be performed Sunday at 5 p.m. at Opportunity Presbyterian Church, 202 N. Pines. Children in grades K-5 will be performing in the musical.

Sunday school students will help lead the 10:30 a.m. worship service Sunday at Peace Lutheran Church, 4124 N. Harvard Road.

Christmas in song

Pasadena Park Church of the Nazarene will host a “Candles and Carols” worship service Sunday at 6 p.m. The church’s musicians and singers will be out in full force for the event.

`Adore Him’ at Foothills

The choir of Foothills Community Church will perform the Christmas cantata “Adore Him” at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. A dessert potluck will follow.

The church is located at 11102 N. Forker Road.

`King of Love’ at Holy Trinity

The cantata “King of Love” will be performed by the choir of Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church during the 10:30 a.m. worship service Sunday. The church is located at 2511 S. Pines.

A musical Christmas

The kids performed their musical last week and on Sunday the adults of Valley Fourth Memorial Church take the stage during a performance of the musical “A New Heart for Christmas.” The free performances will begin at 3 and 7 p.m.
