Hours Change For West Plains Libraries
Beginning Jan. 2, hours at the Spokane County Library District branch in Cheney will be increased to accommodate user demand, library officials said.
Meanwhile, hours at other West Plains libraries are being reduced.
The libraries in Airway Heights and Medical Lake will each be open three days a week rather than four. The libraries will be open longer hours each day, however.
Neither will be open on Fridays or Sundays.
While those libraries are losing an hour each per week, two hours will be added to the schedule at the Cheney Library, which is the largest of the three and designated as the resource library for the West Plains. Cheney’s branch will experience the least change, remaining open every day except Sunday.
The new schedules provide more Saturday hours in all three branches.
“These changes are being made after a complete review of branch hours for the West Plains community as a whole,” said Ellen Miller of the county library district.
Miller noted that the upcoming schedule shifts are easier to remember and have been coordinated to provide more access for the “large number of customers who use more than one branch.”
The revised schedules are:
Airway Heights: Open Tuesday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Medical Lake: Open Monday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Cheney: Open Monday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Tuesday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Thursday. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Friday, 1 to 6 p.m.; and Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
