Accident Kills Skier At Schweitzer Resort
A Glendale, Calif., man died from head injuries he sustained in a skiing accident Wednesday.
Todd Serve Wilson, 29, hit a tree at the Kaniksu ski run at Schweitzer Mountain Resort. He was transported by helicopter to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, where he died early Thursday.
“Witnesses saw him ski down the slope and lose control,” said Tom Fortune, Schweitzer’s general manager. “It’s a terrible tragedy for something like this to happen.”
Wilson had lived in Glendale since 1994. His parents, Serve and Barbara Wilson, live in Sandpoint. Wilson graduated from high school in Homer, Alaska, in 1990, Bonner County Coroner Dale Coffelt said. He attended college at William Jewell College in Liberty, Mo., and at Arizona State University in Tempe, Ariz.
Wilson wasn’t wearing a helmet, Fortune said.
Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday at First Lutheran Church in Sandpoint.
