Mead Lineman Says He’Ll Play For Bobcats

Steve Gunnels, an All-Greater Spokane League defensive tackle for Mead High, has made an oral commitment to play at Montana State University in Bozeman.

Gunnels, 6-foot-3, 255 pounds, was a three-year starter for the Panthers.

Basketball

Thursday’s North Idaho College-Yakima Valley men’s basketball game was postponed because road closures prevented YVC from making the trip to Coeur d’Alene.

No makeup date has been announced.

Swimming

The Washington State University women’s swim team has been invited to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., for a two-week stay beginning Dec. 30.

The center features advanced equipment such as underwater cameras to allow for filming athletes. The cameras and other tools allow coaches to check the finer points of a swimmer’s stroke and see where she is getting too much drag or resistance.
