Louisiana-Pacific Results Fall

From Staff

Louisiana-Pacific Corp. said Friday that fourth-quarter performance will be substantially below current First Call estimates.

Weak demand and soft pricing, coupled with plant closings and other production curtailments, will depress operating results, particularly from structural products such as oriented strand board, lumber and engineered wood products.

Sharply higher electricity and natural gas costs have also been a drag on operating results.

The company had earlier announced it would record an unusual charge of $25 million to $30million related to plant closures.

Company executives will discuss fourth-quarter and year-end results in a conference call scheduled for Jan. 29 at 8 a.m.

The numbers will be released earlier that day.
