Spotlight: Ski And Snowshoe Fest

Free equipment and basic instruction will be available for people who want an introduction to winter sports Jan. 7 at Mount Spokane.

The Spokane Parks and Recreation Department and Mountain Gear are teaming up to put on the Cross Country Ski and Snowshoe Festival from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Selkirk Lodge area of Mount Spokane State Park.

Visitors will need state Sno-Park permits for their vehicles - available at Mountain Gear or at the park headquarters.

The festival is the perfect time to check out the latest snowshoes and ski touring packages and decide whether to sign up for the park department’s snowshoe and ski weekend events set for Jan. 13-14.
