Decision Postponed On Blue Heron Estates

Spokane County commissioners on Tuesday postponed a decision on a golf course and housing development proposed for the North Side.

Commissioners now plan to announce a decision on Blue Heron Estates on Feb. 15.

Pete Rayner wants to develop an 18-hole golf course and 95 residential lots on part of a 417-acre parcel he owns on Indian Trail Road near the Little Spokane River.

The county’s hearing examiner rejected the project last year, saying the development was not compatible with the existing neighborhood and could hurt the aquifer.

Rayner appealed that decision to commissioners.
