Schweitzer Will Add New Quad Chairlift

Schweitzer Mountain Resort has officially announced plans to install a new high-speed quad chairlift on the backside of the mountain before next season.

Named “The Outback Express,” the new chairlift will replace existing chair No. 5 and cut the ride time in half. In addition, the $3 million chairlift will transport 2,600 skiers per hour, which is more than 2-1/2 times the capacity of the existing chair.

The new chairlift is the second high-speed quad for Schweitzer and is part of a long-range plan to upgrade all the lifts at the area.
