St. Stephen’S Hosts Talk On ‘The Basket’
If you want to hear more about the locally produced movie “The Basket,” head to St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church on Saturday. The church will host a potluck dinner and community gathering at 6 p.m.
The featured speaker is Rick Cowan, a partner in North By Northwest Productions, the company which produced “The Basket.” He will show clips of the movie as well as other films produced by the company and will conclude the evening with a discussion.
There is no charge for the evening, but donations will be accepted at the door to benefit the YWCA. For more information, call the church at 448-2255.

Marriage class at First Presbyterian
Married and engaged couples are invited to attend a new class on “Building up your marriage” at First Presbyterian Church. The class, which is designed to help couples strengthen their relationship, will meet every Sunday in February at 9:45 a.m.

Mission trip slide show
Manito United Methodist Church, 3220 S. Grand, will feature a potluck dinner and slide presentation at 6 p.m. Tuesday. There will be three presentations on mission trips that members of the congregation have taken in the past year.

Recital at Hamblen Presbyterian
Hamblen Park Presbyterian Church, 4102 S. Crestline, will host a recital by Heidi Melton and Carol Miyamoto as 3 p.m. on Saturday. The duo will perform works by Bach, Mozart and Brahms.
Talent night at Unity
Unity Church of Truth, 2900 S. Bernard, is having a Unity Talent Night at 7 p.m. Friday. Members of the congregation will perform their favorite talent on stage, whether it’s comedy, music, poetry or drama.
