Man Sentenced For E-Mail Threats
FOR THE RECORD: 2-8-2000 Name incorrect: Sean Shepherd was sentenced to 11-1/2 years in prison for extortion, in addition to a separate rape charge. His name was listed incorrectly in a Friday article.
A man who used his Spokane Public Library card to send threatening e-mail messages to a woman was sentenced to 11-1/2 years in prison for extortion, in addition to a separate rape charge.
Sam Shepherd, 32, pleaded guilty in December to threatening to harm the woman and her children unless she had sex with him.
Shepherd made the e-mail threats by using a fictional name and sending them from the downtown library.
Shepherd first met the victim through his wife, who worked as the woman’s nanny. Shepherd also admitted he forced his wife to have sex with him in October.
That assault occurred several months after he’d been released on bail for the e-mail threats.
