Pause For Beer Leads To Suspect’S Arrest

A woman came home to her apartment Friday night and found a stranger on her couch drinking a beer from her refrigerator, police said.

She screamed at the man to leave, and he did, but not before using the bathroom, according to Spokane police.

When police arrived, they found Shawn C. Elliott, 27, standing outside the building on the 900 block of West Ninth Avenue. Based on a description from the victim and another witness, Elliot was taken into custody and booked on a charge of residential burglary.

The woman, upset but not injured, said she had never seen Elliott before, and he agreed he did not know her, police said.
