Always Cherish Your Parents

Every person has a day he or she will remember most. Perhaps it is a birthday or Christmas. I will always remember March 3, 1993. I was 9 years old and my sister was 8. It was the day I finally had a family to call my own. I was adopted that day, along with my sister Amy.

We soon found ourselves part of a family with two brothers and two other sisters, who also were adopted.

I will never be able to understand how my mom and dad were able to take us in and immediately treat us like their own.

My parents are always there supporting us, giving advice, helping us with homework, cheering us on and respecting any decision we make.

I’m beginning to realize how lucky I am and that I truly was given a second chance at life when I was adopted. I couldn’t be happier to be where I am and to have all the chances I’ve been given to make a difference in someone else’s life just as my mom and dad have done in mine.

If I’ve learned one lesson it’s that we should always appreciate our parents while we can because you never know when they’ll be gone. Oh, and never forget how much they really do love you.
