I Found Out I Have A Half-Sister

Alice Hale, Greenacres

For as long as I could remember, my family was made up of my mom, dad, brother and me. And yet, one day when I was seven or eight years old, I learned that I have a half-sister named Dana. She’s 17 years older than I am and grew up in a completely different family.

After she was born, Dana was put up for adoption. In 1993, she found my dad (her biological father) and they were reunited on a day-time talk show.

Though we have never met, Dana and I communicate through e-mail and over the phone. Now my family is more than just my mom, dad, brother and me. Now, I have a sister.
