Agency Releases Final Eis On Dams

From Staff Reports

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has released the final environmental impact statement for the Cabinet Gorge and Noxon Rapids dams on the Clark Fork River.

Avista Corp., which owns the dams, had applied for a new license for both dams that would last 45 years. As part of the application, Avista established the Clark Fork Relicensing Team, a broad group of agency, environmental, public and industry representatives, to address concerns raised by the relicensing.

The FERC staff recommends that the project be licensed as proposed, with a few additional measures to protect and enhance environmental resources.
