Panorama No. 2 Takes Another Spill
Boys basketball
Having the second seed has proved troublesome at the Panorama League tournament.
Joe Hodges made 8 of 8 free throws Wednesday night and Selkirk held on for a 48-47 overtime win at Republic in a tourney opener.
Republic’s Cory Rickard missed a 3-point attempt with seconds left. Dorian Russell rebounded the miss and scored a put-back basket for the final points. Republic defeated Selkirk 54-50 during the regular season.
Republic entered as the No. 2 seed from the North Division, while Selkirk was the No. 3 from the South. St. George’s, the South No. 2, was upset Tuesday by Inchelium.
The tournament continues Saturday night. In winner-to-district games, Selkirk plays vs. Northwest Christian at Deer Park Middle School, and Inchelium is at Curlew. Wellpinit plays at Republic and St. Michael’s is at St. George’s in loser-out games.
