Two Civic Activists Named To Council
The Newport City Council has appointed civic activists Sandi Lewis and Shirley Sands to a pair of vacancies on the council.
Lewis, 59, an accountant, replaces Ted Holden, who recently resigned for personal reasons shortly after beginning a second term to which he was elected last November.
Sands, 34, a grocery clerk, replaces newly elected Fred Anderson, a Pend Oreille County appraiser who was forced to move when Initiative 695 budget cuts eliminated his job.
