New Features For Buick Family

Buick wasn’t about to pass up the oppor- tunity the calendar-makers handed them: For 2000, there’s a commemorative edition of the aptly named Century.

The Century 2000 gets a fresh batch of power, enhanced value and updated trim and special-edition badging. The new 175-hp, 3.1-liter OHV V-6 replaces last year’s 160-hp engine; plus, there are new alloy wheels and, for the first time in a Century, a driver-side airbag.

All Century models now get dual-zone climate control, as well as cruise control, steering-wheel audio and climate controls and body-color mirrors. And if you want to spend a few more bucks, leather and enhanced audio are prime options.

Both the flagship Park Avenue and the full-size LeSabre get a new option, GM’s StabiliTrak stability-control system. There’s also a new high-end audio system for the Park Avenue, which is available in two variants, base and Ultra. The former comes laden with comfort and convenience features, while the latter fetches such luxury touches as heated seats and chrome wheels. The Regal is quieter this year, thanks to suspension and chassis refinements and the uplevel GS comes with a driver-side airbag. There are new color choices and the base LS comes with 16-inch tires. LeSabre gets redesigned seats for enhanced comfort, improved handling and an optional driver information system.
