Trooper Gets New Comfort, Functionality
Isuzu’s flagship Trooper, an elegant and rugged performer, goes further up-scale with the addition of automatic climate control on all trim levels. Trooper also gets a new Torque-on-Demand traction control system and a grade-sensing transmission function that helps holds the correct gear on hills.
There’s a new grille and combination tail-lamps with clear lenses.
The radical VehiCROSS also gets automatic climate control standard and 18-inch alloy wheels to replace the 16-inchers of last year.
The Rodeo picks up an expanded options list, new colors and a new Intelligent Suspension Control (ISC) system. ISC monitors input from an array of sensors to control shock valving. Seventeen different valve settings optimize ride and minimize body roll with only a modest weight gain.
The new Ironman LS package includes V-6, air conditioning, power moonroof, alloy wheels and ISC. There’s also a new, entry-level Rodeo, the 2WD Rodeo S with manual transmission, 130-hp 2.2-liter engine and a price of just $18,500.
The other Rodeo engine is a 205-horsepower, 3.2-liter unit.
For 2000, the Amigo gets an Ironman trim package and optional Intelligent Suspension Control.
