Hanford Plant Manager Chosen

Westinghouse Safety Management Solutions has been selected to manage contractor Fluor Hanford’s plutonium finishing plant at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation in Washington state.

The plant’s mission is to stabilize, store, repackage and ship plutonium-bearing materials and, ultimately, to be deactivated.

The Energy Department complex has chemical processing facilities, laboratories, storage vaults and support facilities. It operates on a $120 million annual budget with about 550 employees.

The subcontractor is a subsidiary of Westinghouse Savannah River Co., which is managed by Morrison Knudsen’s Government Services Group.
