Chiefs Break Out Against Saskatoon Chiefs 3 Blades 1
The Spokane Chiefs solved a 133-minute scoring drought by coming up with a season-high 49 shots in a 3-1 victory over the Saskatoon Blades on Tuesday night.
The Chiefs were coming off consecutive Western Hockey League losses to the Kootenay Ice.
Scott Roles’ power-play goal, off assists from Tim Smith and Derek Schutz, broke a 1-1 tie in the second period.
Tim Krymusa’s goal, his 17th, with assists from Daniel Bohac and Chris Barr, gave the Chiefs a cushion at 6:46 of the third period. The Chiefs had taken a 1-0 lead in the second period on a power-play goal by Schutz from Smith and Roman Tvrdon.
Chiefs goaltender Tyler MacKay stopped 21 of 22 shots to go to 2-0 against his former team.
