Shadle Pool Closed After Ceiling Tile Falls

The Shadle Park High School indoor pool has been closed indefinitely after a ceramic ceiling tile fell onto the pool deck during public swimming lessons Saturday.

No one was injured.

A subsequent inspection determined more tiles could fall, so all pool activities have been canceled until further notice.

Maintenance employees are determining whether a wall-to-wall safety net could be installed while a permanent solution to remove and replace the tile is determined.

The public pool is jointly operated by Spokane School District 81 and Spokane’s Parks and Recreation Department.
