Black History Month Observed At Scc

Spokane Community College is offering several events to celebrate Black History Month.

All programs are free and begin at 11:30 a.m. in the Lair Student Center. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Today, historian Carl Mack, who wrote and designed a Black Heritage Day Calendar, will speak about black history.

Tuesday, step show, presented by fraternities and sororities at Washington State University and Eastern Washington University. Step shows are similar to drill team performances and traditionally are done by African American Greek societies.

Wednesday, “A Historical Perspective on the African Roots of the Statue of Liberty,” by Ron Taplin, a vice president at Bellevue Community College.
