Snow Sport Report

Alpine skiing/snowboarding

It’s a three-day weekend and that can only mean Silver Mountain, Mount Spokane, Lookout Pass and other areas usually closed Mondays will be open for President’s Day.

Get ready for Powderfest 2000 on Saturday at Silver Mountain. Food, and drink specials along with live music in Mogul’s Lounge from 2:30-4 p.m. For fun on the slopes, skiers and riders can participate in a poker run contest. Pick up a card at the bottom of every lift. Best hands win prizes at the end of the day.

Mike Myers won’t make it to Schweitzer Mountain President’s weekend, but that won’t stop Austin Powers from making the scene. The groovy one will be skiing and handing out coupons.

Big Mountain Ski Resort is the site of the FIS World Cup Telemark races Saturday and Sunday. Race organizers are expecting about 85 athletes from 13 countries. All races begin at 10:30 a.m. Gate keepers, crossing guards and course slippers are needed for all races. Volunteers should check in at the Big Mountain chalet building at 8 each morning and will receive a free lunch and an all-day lift ticket voucher for another day of skiing. For registration and updated event information: (406) 862-2911.

Buy a season ticket now at Mount Spokane and it’s good for the rest of this season and all of next season. The cost is $299, $249, $199 depending on age.
