Adams County Othello
Cable rates in town are going up. Northland Cable recently announced the price adjustment of $1 on basic service.
Ferry County Republic
The county Public Works Department is behind in its paperwork. To catch up, Director Keith Muggoch has asked county commissioners for part-time and full-time accountants.
Grant County Royal City
The City Council is holding its ground on water and sewer development fees. The council decided during the fall to charge a one-time water development fee of $2,120 and $1,598 for a sewer connection. Add to that hookup fees, and the cost of providing city water and sewer to a new residence totals $5,251.
Lincoln County Creston
The Town Council is having trouble getting a quorum at meetings. The council had to cancel its Jan. 20 and Feb. 3 meetings due to lack of council members. A vacant council seat has complicated the matter. Although resident Don Richer has applied for the position, there haven’t been enough council members at the meetings to appoint him. At least three members must be present for a quorum.
Pend Oreille County Sullivan Lake
The Noisy Creek Campground is being moved to higher ground. Because floodwaters have covered the campground in recent years, the Sullivan Lake Ranger District has begun a rehabilitation project to move certain facilities. Structures within the floodplains of Sullivan Lake and Noisy Creek will be moved, campsites will be revegetated and a new campground constructed.
Spokane County Riverside
Members of the Riverside High School and Middle School bands will be among nearly 17,000 students taking part in the annual University of Idaho/Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival Feb. 23-26 in Moscow.
Stevens County Kettle Falls
The local school district recently held a special day camp for second through fourth-graders that focused on character building. High school students Denni Roberts and Joanie Fish put on the two-day program.

Benewah County St. Maries
Parents Helping Parents, a nonprofit organization of community members, is offering a six-week class titled “Becoming a Loving and Logical Parent.” The free class will be on Wednesdays at Kiddie Valley Day Care. Registration deadline is today call (208) 245-8102.
Bonner County Sandpoint
OnLineNowWorld Wide Corporation, an Internet business directory publisher, recently chose Sandpoint as the first city in the United States for its online endeavor, WeCareNow. OnLineNow allows users to conduct targeted searches based on city and state directories. WeCareNow will contribute 20 percent of all advertising income from Sandpoint merchants to the Bonner County School District and the Community Food Bank.
Boundary County Bonners Ferry
The North Idaho Center for Creative Arts and Science is hosting a display of local talent at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Fry Auditorium. Bands, dance teams, theater groups, photography, stained glass, sculptures and refreshments will be included.
Kootenai County Athol
Silverwood Theme Park will hold several job fairs at the park for anyone interested in summer employment as food servers, tellers, emergency medical technicians, groundskeepers, entertainers, game operators, security officers and more. Applicants must be at least 15 years old. Job fairs will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 26, March 4 and March 11 at the park. The North Idaho Community Express will take interested applicants to the park at 2 p.m. Feb. 26 from the Silver Lake Mall and return when it’s over.
Latah County Moscow
The 2000 summer institute for Idaho secondary English teachers, “Tough Paradise: The Literature of Idaho and the Intermountain West,” a one-week course, will be held in Moscow July 16-23. The Idaho Humanities Council will provide a stipend, room and board and texts for 26 teachers. Application deadline is March 15. Shoshone County Kellogg
Some Silver Valley hunters are getting reminded unnecessarily by the Fish and Game Department to turn in their mandatory report cards for the big game season. The cards are to be returned within 10 days of shooting an animal or 10 days after the end of the season - if the hunters get an animal or not. The department said the reminders have gone to hunters who already have turned in reports because of a computer problem.
MONTANA
Lincoln County Libby
Libby High School received a $350 check and Troy High School received a $190 check from Adelphia Cable for the schools’ Cable in the Classroom program. The schools are raising funds to bring satellite cable to every classroom. A $10 donation is made to a school for every service installation Adelphia performs in its area.
