Guard Confronts Shoplifters, Dragged Across Lot
A Tidyman’s security guard was dragged across a parking lot by a car as he tried to stop a shoplifter on Thursday afternoon, according to Spokane Police.
The guard was watching a woman in the north Spokane store as she filled a cart with groceries and then parked it by the front door without paying.
She left the store and got in a car. A teenage boy then got out of the car and retrieved a package of meat from the cart.
The guard followed the boy out of the store and tried to stop him. While in the car, the boy grabbed the guard’s arm and the woman started to drive away.
The guard was pulled about 50 feet, before he fell free. He suffered scrapes.
Police later located a suspect at an apartment at 1608 E. Mission.
Amber Dawn Moore, 22, was arrested and booked into jail on first-degree robbery. She also had six outstanding warrants. Moore has 14 convictions as an adult, according to police.
A 14-year-old boy was also arrested and booked into juvenile detention on first-degree robbery.
The guard required medical care for his injuries.
