Auction for access River running
Easier access to the Spokane River near Sullivan Road is the goal of a fund-raising auction Friday.
The Spokane Canoe & Kayak Club plans to donate proceeds from its annual Hearbreaker Auction and potluck dinner toward building a stair system at Sullivan Park. The stairs would make access easier for floaters to put-in and take-out on the steep, rocky hillside just downriver from the Sullivan Road bridge, said Linda Bise, club spokeswoman.
The club donated thousands of dollars from auctions in the past three years, not to mention many hours of volunteer labor this winter, to developing a river access site just below the T.J. Meenach Bridge.
Everyone is welcome to the potluck and auction, which begins at 6 p.m. Friday at the Corbin Community Center, 823 W. Cleveland.

The position is not compensated, but travel per diem expenses are available.
Applicants should submit a letter of interest and a resume by March 15 to Kent Dimmitt, Washington Fish and Wildlife Department, 600 Capitol Way N., Olympia WA 98501-1091.
