Lewiston Bests Sandpoint For A-1 Mat Title

In a closer-than-expected team race, the Lewiston High wrestling team topped host Sandpoint for the A-1 Region I championship Saturday.

No results were reported by deadline Saturday. The results that were reported late did not include the score or decision of the matches.

Lewiston scored 296.5 points to trip Sandpoint (294). Moscow finished third (208).

The Bengals had four regional champions while Sandpoint had the most, five.

The top three in each weight class qualify for state, which will be held Thursday through Saturday at Idaho State University’s Holt Arena in Pocatello.
