Three Arrested On Marijuana Trafficking Charges

Federal and local drug agents have arrested three Canadian citizens and seized nearly $1 million worth of high-grade marijuana in north-central Washington, authorities said Monday.

The arrests came Friday morning in a rural area near Chesaw, Wash., not far from Tonasket.

Authorities said the suspects were attempting to smuggle more than 200 pounds of “B.C. bud” into the United States when they were arrested.

The smugglers had strapped several large bags of the potent pot to sleds and had pushed or pulled it through the snow for several miles before being caught, agents said.

Authorities were able to track the suspects through the snow, the U.S Border Patrol reported.

One of the smugglers tried to grab an agent’s gun and had to be subdued.

The names and ages of the suspects were not released.
