Unsolved Murders Get Another Look

From Staff Reports

Law officers are taking a new look at the unsolved slayings of seven women in the Spokane area since 1990 to determine whether they are linked to a presumed serial killer already blamed for the deaths of 10 women.

Also, Spokane County Sheriff Mark Sterk said Thursday he will reveal new information about the killer at a public forum Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Public Works Building.

The killer has left behind some unique evidence that will link him to many of the deaths, Sterk said. He declined to reveal that evidence.

“There are some unique identifiers we have in terms of evidence,” Sterk said. “When we come across the right person, we’re going to solve this case.”

The serial killer task force has not revealed many details about the bodies, except to say that most had been shot in the head and dumped in out-of-the-way places. They have also said all the victims shared high-risk lifestyles involving prostitution, drugs or both.

No arrests have been made.
