Eastern Students Pursue Mtv Event

Eastern Washington University students are hoping to bring the MTV Campus Invasion Tour to their Cheney campus this spring, which would feature a concert by pop groups Bush and Moby.

Eastern’s Board of Trustees on Friday agreed to the event by authorizing the expenditure of student funds - up to $75,000 - for the event.

Eastern has not yet set a date with MTV, but will request April 25, 26 or 27. If the event proceeds, ticket sales are anticipated to bring in $53,000, bringing the cost of it to about $22,000.

The MTV Campus Invasion Tour is a daylong event including a tent area, or “MTV Village,” that features fun activities and an evening concert. The tour stops at participating colleges and universities throughout the country.

Students needed trustees’ approval to spend money from the Associated Students’ reserve account. The money is raised from student and activity fees.
