Public’S Chance
Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge
Public comments are being taken as Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge managers compile a 15-year management plan that will govern issues ranging from burning for habitat management to limitations on recreation trails.
The next public meetings will be from 6-9 p.m. as follows:
Tuesday at Cheney High School Library.
Wednesday at Spokane Falls Community College, Building 17, Lounges ABC.
Some of the top preliminary issues include whether there should be more public facilities and access to the refuge, impacts increased access might have on wildlife, how to cope with urban expansion around the refuge, the role the refuge should play in environmental education, possible limitations on use of the Columbia Plateau rail-trail and linking the refuge to wildlife habitat outside its boundaries.
