‘Motion Capture’ Lets Us Learn Things From The Pros

Tennis lessons from top pros and animated tutorials on arcane subjects are among the possibilities presented by “motion capture” technology.

One company is using the technique to construct a virtual workshop of sorts showing textbook tennis moves as demonstrated by leading coaches.

Animated tutorials are also gaining momentum for Web-based retailing of computers and other electronics gear.

Center stage: Qualcomm is hot.

The California-based company has positioned itself as the brains behind the spread of the Internet from the desktop to cellular phones and other hand-held devices.

In doing so, Qualcomm has seen its stock climb 2,600 percent in a year’s time. And it has turned 3,400 employees into stock-option millionaires.
