Empire Builder Back On Track

From Staff

Amtrak’s Seattle-to-Chicago train resumed service Friday after the derailment of a locomotive and four cars Thursday. There were no injuries.

The Empire Builder left Essex shortly after 1 a.m., about 16 hours after the derailment.

The cars that derailed as the train approached Essex remained upright. The cars were a diner, a baggage car, a crew sleeper and a passenger sleeper. The train consisted of three locomotives and 11 cars.
