Man Can Stand Trial On Beating Charges
A judge ruled Tuesday that Victor David is mentally competent to stand trial on charges that he beat his wife, Linda, while keeping her prisoner for years aboard a sailboat.
Snohomish County Superior Court Judge Thomas Wynne’s ruling reversed an earlier finding in October that David’s delusions interfered with his ability to reasonably assist in his own defense.
Trial is scheduled for May 19.
Prosecutors allege that David, 59, of Marysville, abused his wife for years on a sailboat moored near Everett. Besides second-degree assault, he faces charges of felony weapons violations and misdemeanor mistreatment of his dogs.
