Two Water Systems Broke State Rules

From Staff Reports

Two North Idaho drinking water systems violated state environmental regulations by failing to routinely monitor their water for coliform bacteria during September, according to state regulators.

The two, Eastport Border Station in Boundary County and Kootenai County’s Stateline Park, also failed to notify customers that sampling was not done, the Idaho Division of Environmental Quality said Tuesday.

The agency is not aware of any coliform bacteria contamination problems or reports of any illness, DEQ officials said. Routine coliform testing is intended to identify contamination quickly so the public can be notified should the water become contaminated with disease-causing organisms.
