Bus Driver Stops To Help Man, Hits Street Light

From Staff

A Spokane Transit Authority bus knocked over a street light Wednesday morning when the driver tried to stop the bus to help an injured pedestrian.

The bus was traveling south on Monroe Street near Grace Avenue when its driver saw a man fall on the icy sidewalk, STA spokeswoman Jill Lamb said. “He saw this pedestrian fall and smack his head. He didn’t move.”

The driver braked the bus to stop and help the man. The bus slid sideways, knocking over a street light.

No one on the bus was hurt and the pedestrian was treated by paramedics at the scene.

Avista repaired the street light within an hour of the accident.
