Chamber Hosts Mardi Gras Feb. 25

The Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce will host its Mardi Gras 2000 fund-raiser on Feb. 25 at the Spokane Club.

The business organization hopes the Mardi Gras party, along with a fall golf tournament, will become its major fund-raisers, said Valley Chamber president Loren Mitchell.

Often, spouses and those who don’t play golf get left out of chamber activities. This is a way to include them and have a fun event, said Mitchell.

The first year the chamber hosted the event, he didn’t think many business-types would go for a costume party.

He was pleasantly surprised.

Eighty-five percent of the 187 people who attended last year’s event wore costumes. It raised $6,000.

The costume ball includes a reception, silent auction, dinner, live auction and a dance.

Tickets for Mardi Gras 2000 cost $30. They will be available starting Friday at the Valley Chamber of Commerce office at 8817 E. Mission Ave., Suite B.
