NEW FACES:

Telect Inc. has added the following people to its human resources and corporate relations department:

Dana Anderson was named manager of corporate communications. Anderson previously was the national media relations manager at Avista Corp. Her responsibilities include external and internal communications, as well as media relations. She earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Washington State University.

Tim Feagan joined Telect as manager of organizational development and training. Feagan, who previously was manager of training, education and development at Johnson Matthey Electronics in Spokane, will oversee the planning, implementation and management of training and organizational development systems and programs at Telect. He received a bachelor’s degree in finance from Eastern Washington University and an MBA from Washington State University.

Lura Sheahan was hired as manager of government affairs. Sheahan, who previously worked on the staff of U.S. Sen. Slade Gorton, is a graduate of Stanford University’s MBA program and received a bachelor’s degree in international finance from Tulane University. Her responsibilities include managing legislative and regulatory issues that may have potential impact on Telect.

New additions to the staff of the Waterford on South Hill include:

Ricki Cox joined the company as retirement counselor in the sales and marketing department. She previously held a similar position with Window Products Inc.

Colin Francis was named executive director. A native of Australia, Francis has an extensive background in retirement community living.

Registered nurse Rebecca L. Clark has joined the staff of Pend Oreille Pines Long Term Care in Newport, Wash., as director of nursing services.

MOVING UP:

Deneice Hastings has been promoted to resident care manager at the Waterford on South Hill. Her responsibilities include networking between Waterford residents, their families and the medical community.

Coeur d’Alene-based Magnuson, McHugh & Co. P.A. has promoted the following staffers:

Tanya Frey was named senior accountant. She graduated from the University of Mary in Bismark, N.D., in 1994 and joined Magnuson, McHugh in January 1996. Her specialties include tax, accounting and Quickbooks consulting services.

Julie Buck has been promoted from accountant to staff accountant. She joined the firm last January as a tax intern. Buck specializes in accounting and tax services.

STARTING UP:

Rhonda L. Croft has opened the Croft Law Office at 1428 W. Northwest Blvd. in Spokane. She is a graduate of Gonzaga University’s Law School. Her general practice will emphasize providing adoption services.

KUDOS:

The Inland Northwest World Trade Council has presented awards to the following individuals and company:

Ruslana Nemnonova, a Russian graduate student completing the Whitworth international management graduate program, has been awarded the Ed Tsutakawa scholarship.

Dan Sandford, director of Whitworth’s Graduate School of International Management, was awarded the Outstanding Individual Contribution Award for his longtime efforts in education, as well as his contributions to the international business community.

Northern Technologies received the Exporter of the Year Award. The company, founded in 1985, has pioneered state-of-the-art power protection solutions.

OPPORTUNITIES:

February 14 is the deadline for the 2000 Project of the Year Award competition sponsored by the Tri Cities/Columbia Basin Chapter of the Project Management Institute. The award is intended to honor project teams for superior performance and execution of exemplary project management. Projects of any size, industry type and location are eligible and PMI affiliation is not necessary. The Washington Department of Ecology is seeking applications for its annual Waste Prevention, Reduction and Recycling Awards. The awards honor businesses, governments, groups and individuals that had productive waste-reduction and recycling programs and also demonstrated innovative approaches and outreach efforts during 1999. Nominees may include agencies, stores or offices. March 15 is the deadline for nominations.
