Mac Enthusiasts Shunning Some Colors

Apple triggered a computer design revolution two years ago when it introduced its iMac in five flavorful colors.

Buyers have favored a couple of colors, leaving retailers overstocked with models in lime, tangerine and strawberry. Some stores have offered a memory upgrade just to clear shelves of computers in unwanted colors.

* Trick photography: Technology has made a mockery of the old adage that a photo never lies.

Anyone who watched the CBS Evening News broadcast live from Times Square on New Year’s Eve would have seen a billboard advertising CBS News out in the square behind Dan Rather.

But the billboard didn’t exist, at least not in the form that appeared on the CBS broadcast. What the viewer saw was created by inserting a digital image.
