Shooting Victim In Fair Condition

From Staff

A Rathdrum woman who was reportedly shot by her husband Sunday was listed in fair condition Monday at Kootenai Medical Center.

Amy Barclay, 22, was wounded in the leg during a heated argument. After shooting her, police reported, Charles Louis Barclay turned the gun on himself. The 38-year-old man was found dead at the couple’s Crenshaw Street home.

When police arrived, they found the couple’s 23-month-old daughter sitting alone in a van parked in front of the house. She was released to a family friend, Rathdrum officer Tomi McLean said Monday.

The shooting occurred around 3:30 p.m. Barclay, who owned a carpet and flooring installation business, had a history of domestic disputes, neighbors said. His wife had filed for divorce last July.
