Blue-Chip Stocks See Red
Blue-chip stocks fell for a fourth straight session Friday as investors found many reasons to move money away from industrial companies and toward the technology issues that once again pushed the Nasdaq composite to a new closing high.
The Dow Jones industrial average fell 99.59 to 11,251.71. The blue-chip index tumbled every day in the holiday-shortened week, finishing 471.27 points below last Friday’s close.
The technology-dominated Nasdaq composite index rose 45.89 to close at 4,235.40, extending the record it set Thursday.
