Bailey Powers Ewu’S Win Over Weber State

Allie Bailey had game highs of 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Eastern Washington University women’s basketball team to a 59-58 win over Weber State in a Big Sky Conference basketball game played Saturday night at Reese Court.
The win was Eastern’s second straight and improved its record to 6-10 overall and 2-4 in the Big Sky. Weber State dropped to 5-11 overall and 3-3 in the Big Sky.
The Eagles never trailed in the game but were pushed throughout.
Eastern, which scored the first nine points, opened up as much as a 29-16 lead in the first half and led 33-28 at the break.
Weber State’s Wildcats cut their deficit to 41-40 with 13:13 remaining, but the Eagles went on a 6-0 run to stretch the lead back to seven points.
In the run, Lyndy Burgess contributed a pair of baskets on her way to a season high of 15 points.
The Eagles continue their four-game homestand against Montana State on Thursday and Montana on Saturday.

The Bulldogs (8-9, 1-3) lost their third consecutive West Coast Conference game, falling to the Toreros (9-7, 2-2) at Martin Centre.
USD led 52-42 with just less than 9 minutes to play after Kerri Nakamoto nailed one of her four 3-pointers. The Bulldogs chipped away at the lead, with Kristin Deal’s layup starting a 6-0 GU run that sliced the score to 54-52 with 2:18 remaining.
However, Forward Jessica Gray hit 3 of 4 free throws in the final 2 minutes to keep the Toreros in front.
Holly Bruno’s 3-pointer with 15 seconds remaining cut the margin to two points, then San Diego added another free throw for the winning margin.

A series of five free throws in the final 40 seconds helped the Bruins (12-3, 5-1 NWC) defeat the Pirates (9-6, 3-3) at the Wheeler Sports Center in Newberg, Ore.
With the game tied at 49, Katie Greller made two free throws for George Fox. Those were followed by one from Becky Thompson with 16 seconds left and a pair by Nicole Prazeau with 9 seconds remaining as the Bruins completed their comeback in a game that saw them trail by 12 points in the first half.
Jame Wakefield led Whitworth with 15 points and nine rebounds. Myra Slwooko scored 14 points and Jennifer Bennett added 13.

Five players scored in double figures for the Sasquatch, with Amy George’s 15 points setting the pace.
